Socks With SideHustle Socks--Saturday, September 14, 2019; 11 am-1 pm
Learn to turn a knitted tube into a pair of custom-fit socks!
Margaret of Portland's SideHustle Socks will be teaching this workshop, in which you'll learn how to measure a tube for heels and toes, pick up stitches, and create an afterthought heel, using a specially-dyed set of Willamette Valley Wool Company sock yarns.
Each attendee will be provided a pre-knitted tube, a detailed pattern, yarn for a contrasting heel and toe, and step-by-step instructions. During the class, we will mark your tube and get you started on one (possibly two) heels. Participants will have time to do a sample heel and learn tricks for successfully completing a pair of SideHustleSocks!
This class is suitable for all knitters who can knit, SSK, and are familiar with knitting in the round on two circular needles or magic loop.
Supplies needed: Knitting needles; we suggest two circulars size US 1 to 2 (a similar-sized long circular for magic loop is also an option.) Class fees include a pre-knitted tube of hand-dyed sock yarn, and contrasting yarn for heels and toes, provided by Willamette Valley Wool Company. (Color choices will be determined after registration.)
*There will not be a sock machine at this class; all the machine knitting will be done in Side Hustle's studio in Portland prior to the class..
