Fun With Fair Isle with Jeane deCoster--Saturday, January 26, 2019--10:00 am-1:00 pm
Learn the “two-fisted” knitting style that makes it easy to knit with two colors at a time. Learning this stranded knitting technique will open up a whole new world of knitting patterns for you. This is a hands-on class. The focus will be learning to carry 1 color in each hand while knitting. It doesn't matter which hand you normally use to carry your yarn – we'll get you knitting with both hands!
We'll begin with a small project (headband or small bag) to get you started. Samples (and scissors) will be provided to learn about steeks (cutting your knitting!) and how to finish them without bothering with a sewing machine.
Suitable for any knitter who can comfortably execute a knit stitch on a circular needle.
Jeane deCoster is the creator of Elemental Affects, a California yarn company specializing in breed-specific, US-grown wool yarns. An experienced designer and instructor, Jeane teaches around the country at yarn shops, retreats, and Stitches events.
Homework and Materials Needed: Buy 2 skeins of Elemental Affects Shetland Fingering yarn in contrasting colors (light and dark important for seeing stitches in class.) With one color, cast on 120 stitches onto a size 5 circular needle about 16-20 inches long. Turn, and working flat, knit one row. DO NOT JOIN IN ROUND.
